The Access Fund and Climbing Books

Climbing Books is a part of amazon.com's associates program, which means that I get between 5% and 15% commission on the books that are sold through my site. I turn around and give every penny to The Access Fund. We are not talking about large sums of money, but they need all the money they can get. I don't keep anything to cover my costs.

To be sure that The Access Fund gets a cut of what you spend, you must get to a book by following a link from this site. If you find a climbing book at amazon.com that isn't on my list, please send me email so I can include it.

Find your books

You will find the books divided into categories in the side frame and at the bottom of the page. Several books, such as Mountaineering: Freedom of the Hills, appear in more than one category. Browse through the categories. When you find a title that interests you, click on it and you will end up at amazon.com where you can order the book. After you have ordered a book, you can return to Climbingbooks to look for more. The book you just ordered will remain in your virtual shoppingcart at amazon.com. When you are done, you just return to amazon.com and send in your order.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have this book.....?
If you can't find it in the Complete List, I don't have it. I don't control which books are added to the amazon.com database, and I can't sell a book unless it's in there. You might want to search amazon.com to see if I missed the book you are looking for. If you find it, please send me email so I can add it to my list.

A book I wrote/published isn't in your list. How do I add it?
I can't sell a book unless it's included in amazon.com's database. Writers and publishers> can add their books to the database at amazon.com's site. Please send me email if you do, so I can make sure that I add a link to your book.

What's in it for you?
Good karma. I don't get anything out of this exept the chance to keep climbing.

How do I add a link to your links page?
Mail me the URL, and I'll take a look. I'm fairly restrictive about what I include. I want a link to have something more than two pictures and a bunch of links.

How much of my money goes to The Access Fund?
All the money I make through Climbing Books goes straight to The Access Fund. Here's how amazon.com figures out how much I get:>

How much will I be paid?

  • We'll pay you 15% of the selling price of books that are listed in the Amazon.com online catalog at 10%-30% off list price on the date they are ordered. This list typically includes around 400,000 of the most popular and readily available titles in our catalog.
  • We'll pay you 5% of the selling price of in print books sold at list price and deep discounts (more than 30% off list price). This includes 1.2 million special order books and featured books that are discounted more than 30%.

Which book sales do not qualify for a referral fee?

  • Sales of books which were added to the customers' shopping carts directly from the Amazon.com catalog instead of through a special link from the sponsoring web site do not qualify for referral fees. This is true even if the customer previously followed a special link from the sponsoring Web site for another book.
  • Books listed in our catalog as being out of print, which may also be listed on search results as "Hard to Find". Out of print books do not earn referral fees as part of the Associates Program.

Why doesn't this link work....?>
I don't know, but I would like to fix it! Send me email and I'll take a look at it.

Who are you?

My name is Håkan Thyr, and I live in Boston. I'm originally from Sweden. I do web stuff for a living, and climb as much as I can, which is far less than I would like.
